Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Alz Space is a early-access app of a companion app for people living with Alzheimer's and their families. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can exercise your rights over it.

1. Who we are

Alz Space is an independent design-and-engineering startup. It is not a certified medical device or a clinical service.

Contact: alzspacecontact@gmail.com

2. Data we collect

Account & profile data

When you create an account we collect your email address and a display name. If you join a family circle, we store the role you choose (caregiver, family member, or patient).

Content you add

Daily routine tasks, notes, photos, songs, and stories you upload to the memory library are stored on our servers so the app can surface them for you and your family circle.

AI companion conversations

Messages sent to the AI companion (powered by OpenAI) are processed by Google's servers to generate a response. We do not store the full text of conversations beyond the current session.

Game & usage data

We record which games you play, session durations, and approximate scores. This helps us understand which activities are most useful and where difficulty calibration needs tuning.

Beta-signup data

If you request a test build through our website, we collect your name, email address, and your stated role. This information is stored in our mailing list and used only to send you access details and brief beta-round feedback forms.

Device & technical data

We collect basic device information (operating system, app version) to diagnose crashes and compatibility issues. We do not use advertising identifiers or fingerprinting.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide and operate the Alz Space app and website
  • To allow family-circle members to share routines, tasks, and memories
  • To generate AI-companion responses via OpenAI
  • To improve the app based on anonymised usage patterns
  • To contact beta participants with build links and short feedback surveys
  • To diagnose crashes and technical issues

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party processors. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

5. Data retention

Account and family-circle data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Beta-signup contact records are deleted at the end of each beta round, or sooner on request.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your personal data

To exercise any of these rights, email alzspacecontact@gmail.com. We will respond within 14 days.

7. Children's privacy

Alz Space is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our hosting provider (Supabase / AWS). Access to personal data is limited to team members directly involved in the research.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the project evolves. Material changes will be communicated to active beta participants by email. The “last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
